The Timeline of Same-Day Dental Crown

A typical high-quality dental crown made by Dr. Emerson can last well over a decade with proper care and maintenance.

Day of Procedure

A typical high-quality dental crown made by Dr. Emerson can last well over a decade with proper care and maintenance.

Tooth Prep

The dentist will prepare your tooth by removing the portions affected by damage or decay. You may require a root canal to extract infected tooth pulp. Once the structure is sterile, we shave a small layer of surface enamel to make room for the dental crown.

Digital Impressions

Our CEREC system utilizes modern CAD/CAM technology (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) to capture precise digital images of your teeth and their surrounding structures. Using these scans, the dentist will design a custom fitting dental crown to cap the unique specifications of your tooth

Construction

Historically, patients would need a temporary crown to wear for a week or two while their permanent crown was made at an offsite lab. Our CEREC milling machine, on the other hand, crafts the permanent restoration from tooth-colored porcelain in approximately one hour in the office.

Placement

When it is ready, the dentist checks the overall look, positioning, and fit of the dental crown against your tooth. After making any necessary modifications, we bond the crown to your enamel with special dental cement. A typical high-quality dental crown made by Dr. Shelton or Dr. March can last well over a decade with proper care and maintenance.

A Closer Look at The Procedure

Can I afford dental crown treatment?

Understanding the Cost of Treatment at Bay View Dental

We find that patients may be hesitant to schedule dental work due to concerns about the cost of treatment. However, our patients at Bay View Dental in Clairemont have several options to make treatment more affordable. It is important to understand the value of dental crowns and the ways you can reduce the cost of treatment...

The Price Varies among Patients

While it's impossible to give you an exact cost estimate without examining your teeth, the price of a dental crown typically ranges from $700 to $1300. However, many factors play a role in determining the final cost of treatment, such as the type of crown, substantive materials, and insurance coverage. If you are looking to reduce your treatment costs, we will help guide you towards low-cost options to make your crown more affordable.

We Are Flexible with Payment Options

In addition to accepting most major insurance plans, we offer New Dental Choice, an affordable discount plan for patients looking to cut down on treatment costs. Furthermore, we are happy to work with third-party financing options such as CareCredit to reduce your initial out-of-pocket expenses and budget for unexpected dental procedures.

Crowns Are a Good Investment

Crowns are very beneficial to your long-term oral health and are an investment in your dental care. The sooner you receive treatment, the more likely you can prevent the spread of infection and save your natural tooth structure. In comparison to the costly restorative work you might need if you forgo treatment, dental crowns are exceptionally budget-friendly.
